I had an interview yesterday with a clinical nutritionist that I’ve know for 4 years now. She wanted to ask me a few questions about personal training and record the answers for her website.
I wanted to share a few of those questions. Here’s a good one, “What type of exercise is best to burn fat?”
By far, its resistance training. The studies that I’ve read show that after a intense resistance training workout, your metabolism is elevated for at least 24 hours after that workout. This is compared to a cardio workout, which shows your metabolism is elevated 2-3 hours after that workout.
Not sure about you, but I would implement a resistance training workout in your weight loss program. In fact I think its essential.
Both are needed in a weight loss program. But if time is limited, I would highly recommend training with weights.
